Because the lifting feet on the Escalera
push straight down on the step with a vertical thrust (see picture on right), it can climb
any type of step surface. You can climb waxed wood, wet tile, an icy curb, or in this
extreme case, a three hundred pound block of ice. The Escalera can even climb a Teflon
step. Teflon is the slipperiest substance made by man. The Escalera StairClimber is
popular in mountainous areas. This is because the homes often have many steps. The
